We Love our Diamondbacks!

Just in case some of you out there might not know - our family are all huge sport fans - most of us especially like to watch baseball - and our favorite major league team - the Diamondbacks of course! We haven't been able to attend many games this year - too busy of a family. However, we did finally take all the kids the week before school started. It was a lot of fun.

Here are Carson and Kristi all dressed out in their Diamondbacks colors and clothes! By the way - Carson loves to watch baseball and is starting to throw and even bat. Imgaine that in this family!

Kris and Mikel came along too. (The only one not here - Matt - who couldn't move around much at the time with his bum ankle. We missed him!)

Dani just hanging out. She if finally beginning to like a few sports! Can you believe someone in our family not enjoying watching or playing sports? We are trying to convert her.
Jason wasn't too excited about coming. He was more into reading a new book he had just got and couldn't leave it hom-which is surprising because he usually loves watching baseball. The week of August 18th - Mom and Vaughn came to spend with us. Vaughn had the week off (can you believe he actually took some time off?) - and they chose to drive down and visit us. We were so excited to have them here. We took Mom and Vaughn to a game. Vaughn had never been to a major league game before - and only to 1 professional sports game - back in the late 1970's to a Jazz/Sonics pre-season game. He seemed to really enjoy the baseball game.
Here we are after the game. Mom was so sure the D-backs wouldn't win. We got there in the 1st inning with them behind 4-0 - but we won and it was pretty exciting.

Yea for School!

School started this week - Yea! Life is crazy here in the mornings as everyone is getting ready for school and work. But, by 8:00 - peace and quiet. It is just Carson and I hanging out all day. Carson is trying to adjust not having someone always there to play with. But, starting Aug. 25th I will be babysitting EmmaLee twice a week while Jo goes to school. Now, that will be interesting with 2 toddlers and their interaction and me as the mom and grandma!

What a cutie she is. Can you believe that she is in the 4th grade! Her teacher is Miss Ferguson. On a side note - Miss Ferguson graduated from high school with Jeremy and was part of his big group. He even went out with her to one of the dances. That is weird. Now I do feel old!

They come in threes...

They say that things - ususally bad ones - comes in threes. So it was for us. First off - Jeremy sprained his foot when we were camping (wrecking on the dirt bike) - and was not able to go to work for a couple of weeks with his meter reading. Then, a few weeks later - Matt strained three ligaments in his foot while playing softball. Both he and Jeremy wore the "boots". Jeremy was able to get by using a cane, but Matt had to use crutches - no pressure on his foot. The third incident was to Jason. He dislocated his shoulder while at football camp. (I don't like getting a call from a coach while my kid is out of town - and they always start out with...."He's okay, but...."). So, Jason was wearing a sling. He can't do any contact until at least next week in practice, which is about killing him since he thinks he feels fine now. But, he has to wait for the doctor's approval!

Dani and Kristi love to play with hair - and make it oh so lovely. Wasn't Jason a nice brother to let them do his hair. He looks so happy with the result too! (It's hard to make a tough look on your face wearing a pink bow in your hair!) By the way - I have some really cute pictures of Doug that the older kids did with his hair quite a few years ago, but I haven't ever scanned them into my computer. What do you think - should I do it and take the chance of my husband being really upset at being out there for the world to see him with bows and barrettes in his hair?

Day of Rest

Sunday is the day of rest around our house -literally. I caught Jason and Matthew taking naps after church. Don't they look comfortable!

Long time - no blogging

Yea, yea I know. I haven't updated my blog in a while. So, life gets crazy around here - what can I say other than that! No, I don't have any pictures in this blog - I am just sharing a few websites I have found - and LOVED - or just some I really like, or items I like.

I found this website through Deseret Book emails I get. It is some women who have put together a blog of good things to read for LDS women. It is kind of fun - you can also leave them comments. One of the bloggers is Emily Watts, a author that is so funny, she wrote the book - "The Confessions of an Unbalanced Women". I have also heard her speak. A Camping We Will Go.......

I am so excited - we are on our way out of the heat and going camping! The tent in the picture is the one we just bought for the boys to sleep in. Our old one was getting a little worn (and had a few holes in it). Doug, Carson, the girls and I will sleep in the trailer. It is going to be fun - all the kids will be there sometime during the trip. Doug, Carson, Jason, Dani and I are leaving just after lunch and pulling the trailer and toys (dirt bike, buggy, ATV). Matt, Kendall and Kristi will come up this evening pulling the boat.

Tomorrow morning Mikel and Kris will join us for the part of the day then go visit his family in Snowflake. They will be back on Saturday night. Sunday afternoon, Jeremy, Jo, and EmmaLee are coming up. We will all be together for one afternoon because Matt, Mikel and Kris will come back to Mesa. The rest of us will stay until Tuesday. Everyone always thinks of Arizona as being hot and of the desert. But - just two hours from Mesa and we are up in the mountains and the pine trees. The monsoon season has started, so there is a chance of rain every afternoon, but that's okay. It is cooler and relaxing. Yea for finally being able to go on a vacation this summer. Here we come - fishing, playing, shooting guns, riding toys, relaxing.
